A DAY TO PROFESS LOVE AND GRATITUDE

“Tu B’Av, Jewish Valentine’s Day,

on which we send our thanks above

for the blessings that have given us the ones we love.

But, in addition, today, it is my mission

(as a poet, and didn’t you just know it

 – I do feel queasy, that line was pretty cheesy)

to give thanks to Yaf, my wife,

on our anniversary,

the Hebrew date,

so I shall rate her

 – high marks, I won’t berate her!

Yaf, a great wife, a great friend, a great luver,

a great muver,

a top sister in law to Tara, you are,

a great daughter-in-law to my ma and pa.

Yaf, a great laff,

a great cook – and you’ve got the look,

a hard worker, never a shirker,

you multi-task,

do everything we all ask,

and you do it with a smile,

in your own inimitable style,

I have to say,

you blow me away!

You give me such support,

that I ought,

here and now,

to say it out loud and proud,

“THANK YOU, MY WIFE,

FOR WHAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT TO MY LIFE,

A LIFE YOU’VE SAVED,

THANK YOU FOR THE ROAD YOU’VE PAVED,

THANKS FOR BEING YOU:

MY GRATITUDE IS GENUINE, HONEST AND TRUE!

With love,

thanks to you,

thanks, above!”
