‘THE CROWN’ (2016), Ep. 9: JOHN LITHGOW’S CHURCHILL – SPELLBINDING!

I’ve just watched Ep. 9 of ‘The Crown’ (Churchill’s portrait sitting and retirement and The Queen and Prince Philip’s ‘difficulties).

The acting is superb across the board but John Lithgow steals the show. His portrayal of Churchill is spellbinding, mesmerising and impeccable – the depths to which John Lithgow is able to delve in exposing the soul/the essence, the heart, the emotional frailties, the insecurities, of Churchill, I don’t think I’ve ever seen anything quite like it, not on television or otherwise.

For me, watching episode 9 of ‘The Crown’ (loathe as I am to single out this episode over the other 8 I have seen so far), I am not exaggerating when I ‘say’ that it was akin to an epiphany.
