I am gutted!! Don was one of the greatest, funniest comedians of all time, part of the fabric of the golden age of Hollywood, TV, music, of THE entertainment era, one of the VERY few who were allowed, authorised by the Chairman himself, to make fun of Frank Sinatra:
“It’s all over, Frank, I know you don’t like to hear that – it’s gone…”
Don Rickles, as the ‘Roastmaster’ on ‘The Dean Martin Celebrity Roast’ shows, he gifted us some of the most glorious, sublime hours of television ever produced – watching the guests, the ‘roasters’, Lorne Greene, Jimmy Stewart, Barry Goldwater, John Wayne, Nipsey Russell, Jack Krugman, Telly Savalas, Dan Rowan, Dick Martin et al in hysterics, it is one of life’s good things (Dan and Dick could barely contain themselves), watching Dean almost collapse with laughter, it is beautiful…..and Foster Brooks, the icing on the cake!
Mr. Don Rickles, comedian, actor (he was menacing in Martin Scorsese’s ‘Casino’), entertainer, legend, RIP
